Second seed Hannah Sutherland-Smith upset No1 Nikayla Barnard to take out the under-16 girls' singles title at the St Johns Club Junior and Open tournament in Whanganui on Tuesday.
The Palmerston North-based player beat her Taranaki opponent in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 on the Bassett St courts.
Tom Bolton from Wellington also claimed his under-16 boys singles title in straight sets by easily accounting for Martinborough ace Shane Colton 6-1, 6-1.
In the under-12 girls singles final, diminutive Brooke Morgan took control beating Lower Hutt clubmate Charlotte Painter 6-3, 7-5, while Petone's Sean Phegan dispatched Taranaki's Jordan Whittleston 6-2, 6-2 in the boys' grade.
The under 16 and under -12 doubles finals went into the evening beyond press time.
Meanwhile, Whanganui's Sean Edmonds won the Open Men's Singles Plate, a newly-introduced competition for adults and coaches attending the junior tournament with their young players.
