One of Mangamahu's most productive and busiest farming operations is set to change hands.
Manawaimai Station is on the open market and certain to attract much attention given its location and history.
Manawaimai is a large hill country property 48km south of Ohakune and 72km north east of Wanganui. It has main access via Polson Rd and runs between Mangamahu Rd and Fields Track.
Bayleys' agent Pete Stratton said that at approximately 1476ha, Manawaimai provides an exciting opportunity to secure a large, well-maintained holding in an area that is notoriously tightly held.
The property has been very well farmed by the Polson family over many years. The soils are dominated by Turakina Silt loam (paapa), a highly respected hill country soil, reflected in the quality of stock consistently produced off the farm.
Stratton said it is an attractive property, bounded by the Whangaehu River on the eastern side featuring a large modern four bedroom homestead with outstanding valley views, and complemented with a well-maintained three bedroom cottage also on an elevated site.
A main six stand woolshed with large covered yards is easily accessed off Polson Rd, as are the solid substantial cattle yards. A second woolshed is located off Fields Track.
Ten sets of satellite sheep yards through the station, all in excellent condition, service the 38 main paddocks.
The station comfortably winters 8000 ewes averaging 135 per cent lambing, plus up to 3000 ewe hoggets. A herd 358 angus cows and 160 other cattle are also wintered.
With over 1400ha effective, a bonus is approximately 55ha of cultivatable contour.
The farm infrastructure, buildings, stock yards, dams and fencing have been maintained and improved to a high standard, and the combination of scale, fertility of soils, quality of improvements and natural supply of water, make Manawaimai a rare farming opportunity.
Offers for Manawaimai Station close on December 6.
