Listen: Good turn out for Fonterra's AGM

Fonterra held its annual meeting yesterday at its Lichfield site in the Waikato and the turn out was "really good," says Mark Robinson.

Fonterra's Head of Farm Source for Otago and Southland, spoke to The Country Early Edition's Rowena Duncum about some of the highlights at the co-op's AGM.

There were presentations from Fonterra's chair John Monaghan and CEO Miles Hurrell says Robinson.

Monaghan gave an overview of the year and highlighted the co-op's competitive milk price, while announcing plans to reward and recognise Fonterra farmers' good work and high-quality milk.

Hurrell focused on Fonterra's financial results and plans to lift performance, as well as mentioning some "big opportunities" in medical nutrition and active nutrition, says Robinson.

Also this week Fonterra farmers elected two new members to its board of Directors, Leonie Guiney and Peter McBride. Robinson says there will be a second election coming up as one of the positions remains unfilled.

Also in today's interview: Robinson announces results from the Shareholders Council elections, talks about the Open Gates initiative which starts this weekend and reveals how well Fonterra did at an international icecream conference.
