A contingent of four Taranaki high school students brought home the top trophy after travelling to Christchurch to compete in the Pool 4 Schools Nationals.

The Taranaki squad scored the most points during the competition and won the Pool 4 Schools National Trophy for the third successive year. Taranaki is yet to be beaten in the competition as the tournament has only been going for three years.

The team was made up of Stratford High School students Jaylen Hamilton and Crystalee Jane, Inglewood High School student Tana Thurston and Francis Douglas Memorial College student Simon Kleinsman. Jaylen and Crystalee came runner-up in the pairs competition with Tana and Simon finishing in third equal.

Simon and Jaylen finished fifth equal in the singles competition main draw while Crystalee went on to win the Flight event and Tana came runner-up in the trophy event.
