Winning final for Central

It was brilliant weather on Saturday for finals day - just the weather that suits the Central First XV rugby game and the boys were ready to play.

We started well with an early try when we switched play back to the blind and backs and got around a couple of Hawera forwards.

Hawera replied with two penalties and then a try as they applied the pressure. We gave away too many penalties and spilled a lot of ball, giving them lots of ball to play with for 20 minutes.

We then got some phases together and scored, making it 14-13 to us at half time. With a stir up at half time from the coaches the players took it to Hawera in the second half. The boys ran with determination, cleaned out rucks, tackled with intent and the tries came. Hawera tired quickly with the pace of the game.

Central won 31-18, a great team effort.A season unbeaten in 31 games was a superb effort and collecting six trophies along the way to be proud of.
