Stratford swimmers score well at regionals

CMK Accountants Stratford Flyers had a team of 37 swimmers attend the Wellington 2016 Swimming Championships January 22-25.

The squad competed against 40 clubs around lower the North Island, including New Zealand's High Performance team from Auckland. Racing in a 50m long course pool provided excellent competition and prepares the swimmers well for their national events coming up over the next three months.

Joshua Gilbert broke a Taranaki Record in the 14-15 yrs 50m Breaststroke 31.37, (was Brady Corkill 32.26). Braiden Higginson qualified for the Taranaki swim representative team, Brooke Millar qualified for the Taranaki National age group team.

Further finalists were Payton Agent, Lauree Collins, Tyler Kidd, Bayley Knofflock, Ryan Knofflock, Anina Loveridge, Eva McGeoch, Orion McGeoch, Brooke Millar, Morgan Mills, Jordan Wood, Cormach Hughson- How, Ben Sinclair and Katie Sinclair.

Personal best times were attained by all in the finals and Meg Baldock, Jasmine Gibbon, Bella Hancock, Skie Higgison, Teagan Knofflock, Alex McGeoch, Danni Poulsen-Cook, Lauren Wood, Patrick Woodney, Richmin Hughson-How,

Next on the calendar in February, the qualified juniors heading to Wellington for the New Zealand 12 and under swim champs while the 13 and overs head to Hamilton for Central Swim Champs.
