Students been injured in a school bus crash in Taranaki this morning.
The bus full of children lost control and ended up in a roadside ditch between Hawera and Normanby, according to a witness.
Simon Butters, who was a few hundred metres behind the bus when it crashed, said about 30 children were on the bus, and one was taken away by ambulance after badly hitting his head.
The children were "shaken up", he said, and a number of parents showed up after children contacted them on their cellphones.
Police have confirmed students escaped with minor bumps and bruises.
Police said the bus lost control on Waihi Rd and ran off the road but managed to remain upright.
The bus driver suffered minor injuries, said a spokeswoman.
Children on the bus were checked by paramedics.
