Chris Prankerd of Tariki recently became a legend of the Mountain to Surf Marathon, having completed this event 15 times.

He has also completed several Rotorua marathons and usually finishes in around three hours 30 minutes.

Chris has been a member of Stratford Runners & Walkers Club since 2005 and is vice president. He is also in charge of estimating handicaps for members in handicap events.

Other recent notable achievements include life membership awarded to Albie Jane at the end of last season, and both he and Barry Hosking received 20-year long service awards from NZ Athletics.

The Club's opening day is on Saturday April 1 at 1 pm at the Stratford racecourse. During the season, until mid November, the club run/walks on-road and cross country on farms, on the mountain, through the bush and along beaches.

Members range from casual street walkers to serious runners.

Contact Secretary Sandra Heal: 06 765 8011 or president Trevor Hepburn 06 762 2826.
