AmeriCARNa is just a couple of days away from roaring into town and John Rae, the man who came up with the concept 10 years ago, has just enjoyed some success at the Grand National Roadster Show in California.
Todd Holland, owner operator at RE Automotive in Stratford, says he and the team were delighted to hear the 55 Chevrolet Bel Air that John bought for his wife Diane took out first place in the semi hardtop class at last month's show in the US.
Todd says the Stratford-based business was chosen by John to do the paint job on the car, which was then shipped to the US for the upholstery to be done before it was entered in the show. The upholstery was done by Gabe's Custom Interiors in Bloomington, California and Todd says Gabes is well known to fans of the television show American Hot Rod.
Describing it as "a dream come true" to be involved in the rebuild of the car, Todd says it was great to work on, and rewarding to see it win the trophy.
