Warren Vendt's 65th birthday bash is going to be bigger than he ever imagined after winning the $1000 cash draw as part of the Taranaki Masters Games.
Warren, an avid lawn bowls player, was one of many athletes to take advantage of the early registration draw in hopes of winning the cash prize.
The win couldn't have come at a better time for me. I am celebrating my 65th birthday this year and my wife is celebrating her 60th so this money will help with the party planning.
Warren says the party is already set to be a big one, with family members travelling to Taranaki from as far North as Whangarei.
Warren and his wife Ruth have competed in the Taranaki Masters Games for a number of years.
"It is always a good day out and because it is a mixed competition there is always a good number of teams involved."
"I just hope the weather stays this wonderful until competition weekend," he says.
He would like to thank the organisers of the Taranaki Masters Games for the prize and looks forward to hitting the green later this month.
Jacqui Wood, organiser of the Taranaki Masters Games, says it was wonderful to see how many entrants took advantage of the early registration draw.
Even though the cash prize has been won, there was still a range of prizes up for anyone who registered before March 7.
Entries received by this date will be in the draw to win a voucher for two to enjoy either a Republic Rail Picnic or Railbike Journey with Forgotten World Adventures.
Entrants will also be in the draw to win a sports bag of prizes donated by Taranaki businesses.
