The Vicar of Dibley is coming to Stratford. But first her flock needs to be found!
Tracey Blake, president of Stratford on Stage, says she is looking forward to directing the show which will hit the stage in March this year.
Cast auditions for the stage play are being held at The Castle on Regan Street this Sunday, January 24 and the following Wednesday, January 27.
Tracey says she is looking forward to directing the show.
"I have enjoyed the television series for years, and am a huge fan of Dawn French who plays the main character".
Tracey says while the part of Geraldine Grainger, the eponymous vicar, has already been cast, they are casting for all the other favourite characters from the British comedy series.
From Alice Tinker, the not-so-bright verger to Owen Newitt, the local farmer obsessed with his bowels, every cast member has unique quirks and personalities that will add to the humour, says Tracey.
Tracey says she herself doesn't have a favourite character.
"They are all hilarious and will challenge any actor." She chose the play because it is popular with such a wide audience.
The stage play has been written by Ian Gower and Paul Carpenter who adapted it from the original television production by Richard Curtis and Paul Mayhew-Archer.
Tracey says she encourages would-be cast members to start finding out more about the TV series so they are familiar with the characters before they audition.
Auditions: Sunday, January 24. 7 - 8.30pm. Wednesday, January 27. 7 - 8.30pm.
