They're among New Zealand's most-loved entertainers and now the Topp Twins are coming to Stratford for one night only next year.
Kate Whareaitu, director community services at Stratford District Council, says she and the community development team are excited to be bringing such a well-known and internationally recognised act to Stratford for the Summer Nights concert.
"They are probably the best-known act we have ever had perform at one of the Summer Concerts and we anticipate a large crowd on the night."
Kate says the musically gifted twins are famous for their concerts which combine music with plenty of humour.
"They are sure to be a hit with the crowd and will help make this season's Summer Nights concert one to remember."
Kate says while the Dell isn't quite the Happy Valley Camping Ground that the Topp Twin's alter egos Camp Mother and Camp Leader know well, the Dell certainly will make a great venue for the concert.
"Following this year's successful concert in the Dell we have decided to continue holding the Summer Nights concerts in this location as it is the perfect place for concerts."
The concert will be theeighth year a Summer Nights concert has been held, and Kate says they are growing in popularity each year.
"They are really popular and we get great feedback each year. What better way to enjoy a fine summer evening in Stratford then to have a picnic on the grass at the Dell and listen to some great music, especially when it is free of charge?"
This year's opening act will be Rick Coplestone and Janet Muggeridge, she says.
"Rick and Janet opened for the Warratahs last year at the Summer Nights concert and they were a popular choice with the crowd, so we are delighted to have them back on stage for this concert as well. "
