A classic Chevrolet car was damaged in an accident in Auckland today in which three people were injured.
The front of the 1955 Bel Air was pushed in by the crash with an Audi SUV at around 3pm on Green Lane West in Epsom, outside the ASB Showgrounds.
"The road was blocked for a time while the crash site was cleared and an oil spill on the road was cleared up," a police spokeswoman said.
The St John Ambulance service said three people suffered minor injuries.
Tim McCready tweeted a picture of the damaged Chevrolet.
McCready said the other vehicle involved in the crash was an Audi SUV.
Russell Wilson, a committee member of the American Classic Car Club, said he had seen the Chevrolet at the CRC Speed Show at the ASB Showgrounds before the crash.
He said it was a nice car.
"It was beautiful. To see any old classic car with that sort of accident is very, very sad, because they take a lot of time and effort to get to that point, then something happens, and, bang.
"These cars were not designed with modern crumple zones. They are reasonably solid cars but it looks like the front has been pushed towards the rear by a reasonable amount."
