It will be a mixed bag of weather for Northland through the week, with showers and fine spells as a result of low-pressure systems from the Tasman Sea.
MetService weather forecaster Cameron Coutts said there should be plenty of sunshine in Northland today before another trough of low pressure tomorrow afternoon would bring heavy rain, mostly along the region's east coast.
Winds would change to cooler southwest with the possibility of thunderstorms, he said.
"It looks pretty good for Northland with a westerly flow on Wednesday and most of Thursday and a bit of ridge which is the high-pressure system that will suppress showers," Mr Coutts said.
He said showers were expected on Friday but should clear on Saturday morning.
The rest of Saturday as well as Sunday and Monday should be fine days.
Rain will return on Tuesday before turning to showers on Wednesday and Thursday next
week.
"In winter, southwesterlies have clouds that bring showers so what's happening is nothing out of the ordinary. I don't expect there to be a warning or weather watch as we head into the weekend," Mr Coutts said.
Daytime temperatures of between 10C and 14C would generally remain the same throughout the week, he said.
Northland Regional Council figures showed most places in the region received less than 10mm of rain between 3pm on Monday and 3pm yesterday.
