A flourishing Paraparaumu-based business has won the Deloitte Fast 50 fastest growing services business Wellington lower North Island award.
The award ranks New Zealand's fastest growing businesses based on revenue percentage growth.
ELE Group, located on the corner of Rimu Rd and Ihakara St, received the award at a prizegiving celebration at the Harbourside Function Venue.
Now in its fifth trading year, ELE Group comprises various business arms with each complementing each other.
There's a transport solutions business which hires out trucks and drivers, a contract labour business for sites around New Zealand, and foundations business which creates residential slabs, and more.
"We have about 700 workers on jobs, on any given day, and that number is rapidly growing," ELE Group founder Brent Mulholland said.
Winning the award was great but "it's really just the start for us."
A key focus next year was on winning the master of growth award which looks at sustained growth over a period of time.
"That means you can run a business but you can keep running it...I've heard of companies entering the Fast 50 who have gone out of business."
The company was "only just beginning".
"We've always had a goal to develop a big business — a national business and an international business.
"But it [head office] will always stay firmly in Kāpiti."
Mr Mulholland praised the company's staff.
"We've got a great team.
"If someone said what is the secret to your success so far, and it is a successful company where we make good money, the answer is good people.
"You've got to have good people and they have to be passionate about they do and be part of it.
"I would, hand on heart, say that all of my staff, from the leadership team right down, treat it like their own, and love being here."
The company motto is: Right People Right Place.
ELE Group also gives back to the community including Child Cancer Foundation, Softball NZ, Mary Potter Hospice Kāpiti as well as Club Vista and the Paraparaumu RSA.
The national awards are in Auckland in November.
