Organisers of the annual charity Hawke's Bay Wine Auction are "thrilled" after 200 tickets to a pre-tasting for the main event sold out in a day.
Event Manager Elisha Milmine said the pre-tasting event provided an opportunity for people to sample 42 auction lots up grabs a month later at the main auction event on November 10 at the Napier Conference Centre.
"We are thrilled with how the tickets have been snapped up for the pre-tasting event in October and with only 700 tickets available to the main auction event in November we will now be focusing our energies on selling this event out too."
A total of 200 tickets to the October 10 pre-tasting sold out in just 24 hours from going on sale to the general public.
Tickets for the main auction event were also selling well.
This year's auction sees some of Hawke's Bay's most prestigious wineries providing 42 unique never-to-be-repeated lots of wine, many of which are being specially blended, just for the event.
WineWorks Hawke's Bay plant manager Steve White said WineWorks was pleased to continue contributing to such an outstanding event that not only promoted Hawke's Bay wine but also gave so generously to Cranford Hospice.
Project Manager Annabel Tapley-Smith said it would be WineWorks' fourth year as the event's principal sponsor.
"The generous contribution and constant support that Tim Nowell-Usticke and his plant manager, Steve White have shown, has enabled the Hawke's Bay Wine Auction team to branch out, ever so slightly, to add new elements to the event each year and for that the Hawke's Bay Wine Auction committee are grateful."
Although the pre-tasting event has sold out, it's not too late to snap up tickets to the main Auction event on Saturday, November 10 – go to www.hawkesbaywineauction.co.nz/
