Two boys, aged 14 and 16, appeared in the Rotorua Youth Court on Tuesday afternoon in relation to an aggravated robbery at a Hastings address last Thursday evening.
An elderly woman and her daughter were confronted in their Outram Road, Akina home.
Both were shocked and upset by the incident, but had no physical injuries.
The teenagers were apprehended on Tuesday in Rotorua, where they live.
Hawke's Bay Police thanked the Hastings community for providing valuable information which assisted in making the arrests.
Investigators have spoken to the victims, who were relieved to hear two people have been charged.
Police reassured the community the robbery was an isolated and random incident.
