Meet the candidates today from 6-8pm at Zeal building, Ward Lane. An official youth collaboration between the Hamilton Youth Council Advisory Panel, Zeal, Te Ahurei a Rangatahi and Shama Ethnic Youth Advisory Group. All welcome.

The Bishop of Waikato The Rt Rev'd Dr Helen-Ann Hartley invites the public to hear the 2016 Hamilton city mayoral candidates answer questions on the welfare of the city and its people. The theme for the afternoon is Seeking the welfare of the city. September 18 from 2-3.30pm (refreshments after) at St Peter's Cathedral, 55 Victoria St.

A Suffrage Day women-only candidate event will be held on September 19 from 6.30-8.30pm at YWCA Hall, corner Clarence and Pembroke streets. RSVP to attend. Contact hostel@ywcahamilton.org.nz.

Meet mayoral candidates on September 20 from 7-9pm at Wintec Rotokauri campus. Sport Waikato is hosting this event with Sport Waikato chief executive Matthew Cooper facilitating the session. Trust Waikato Room, Bryan Perry Sports House, Wintec Rotokauri campus, Akorangi Rd. To register your interest in attending email reception@sportwaikato.org.nz. Contact Mike Maguire on 858 5388. Event is open to partners, stakeholders and deliverers of sport, recreation and physical activity in Hamilton.

International Car Free Day - candidate meeting on September 22 from 6.30-8pm at Hamilton City Council reception lounge, Civic Square. Celebrate the day with election candidates (mayoral, east and west wards, Regional Council) and hear from experts on benefits of active transport options, biking and cycleways, bus accessibility, and the future of a commuter rail service to Auckland. Mayoral candidates given preference to make statements and speak to the questions and other candidates to join on stage to indicate their support or dislike of the comments and responses made. There will be some pre-set questions on Hamilton's transport issues and questions from the floor as time allows. Time to discuss further with the candidates over tea and coffee afterwards. National MP Tim Macindoe will hold a mayoral candidates' forum on September 23 from 10am-midday at Cafe Agora's back room, Kent St, Frankton. All mayoral candidates are invited and the event is open to the public. Candidates will make brief introductory statements. Questions from the public will be submitted in writing as people enter the forum. Contact 850 6262.
