Hamilton fashion designer Mitchell Vincent showed off his designs at the New Zealand Fashion Week in Auckland on Tuesday.
Mr Vincent has been part of NZ Fashion Week for the previous three years through the Miromoda competition aimed at encouraging Maori designers, but this year he stepped up to the New Generation show.
Mr Vincent's designs comprise 32 pieces spread across 12 looks alongside two other designers, giving the young Wintec graduate 15 solo minutes to impress national and international buyers.
"It was a chance to show buyers in industry what I see myself going into for the future and what to look out for," he said.
The New Generation show was, Mr Vincent said, a stepping stone before having his own show in Fashion Week.
"This approach for New Zealand Fashion Week was to be a little bit more commercial, to think about our customer and take the runway home," he said.
"It's very muted tones, to be honest, going into winter 2017. We will be looking at your navys and you're looking at four seasons within one day - you have layers on layers.
"It's that idea about being able to take one good New Zealand designer piece and mix it with your wardrobe and making it effortless and without too much thought."
