A local plumber has been named as the Hamilton regional finalist for the Plumbing World Young Plumber of the Year 2018 competition.
Liam Pascoe of Plumbing & Gas Works Ltd, was named regional finalist in the Young Plumber of the Year competition and will represent Waikato/Taranaki in the national finals in October.
The competition, held at the Te Rapa Plumbing World branch, saw seven local plumbers compete for the chance to win more than $500 worth of prizes.
Participants completed a series of eight plumbing disciplines, which are assessed by a local Master Plumbers representative, in addition to a written test.
Liam is among the top 10 plumbers from across New Zealand who will participate in the national finals at WINTEC later this year.
Liam says: "All the boys put in 110 per cent. They really showed some guts and came away with great results.
"I'm excited to have this opportunity to not only showcase my skills, but also represent my company. They have provided me with the opportunity to grow my skills through on the job training and helped me to be where I am today."
Te Rapa Plumbing World branch manager Julena Phillips said it was a very well-deserved win and a reflection of his skills and expertise.
The national finals will be held at WINTEC on October 10. The winner stands to receive a share in $20,000 worth of prizes, including a trip to Indonesia for them and their employer, a Samsung smartphone, NZPM RPS shares, tools and a one-year subscription to NZ Plumber Magazine.
For their support, the winner's employer will receive a prize including the trip to Indonesia, a racing simulator package, NZPM RPS Shares, fuel vouchers and a one-year supply of Red Bull.
