The forecast is looking good for anyone planning to leave the car at home and bus, bike or walk to work tomorrowfor World Car Free Day.
MetService forecaster Cameron Coutts said the early morning might be a bit foggy, but showers were not expected to arrive until closer to midday.
He said morning temperatures should be around 7C or 8C, rising to 17C in the afternoon, and winds were expected to be light.
Meanwhile, there will be free bacon butties for Bayhopper users at bus stops on Willow St tomorrow.
The Bay of Plenty Regional Council is putting on the free barbecue breakfast, hosted by The Hits radio station's Will Johnston between 7.30am and 9.30am.
As well, anyone taking a Bayhopper bus during peak afternoon hours between 4pm and 6pm will get a free ride.
The council will also have a mystery prize selector riding buses across the region and handing out prizes including chocolate and noise-cancelling headphones.
Council transport policy manager Garry Maloney said the council had backup buses in Tauranga they could use if the day proved popular.
"With current public interest in transport challenges such as parking and congestion, World Car Free Day presents an ideal opportunity to reward and incentivise bus use and remind our community that there are viable alternatives to cars."
Public Transport Committee chairman Lyall Thurston said one busload of passengers worked out to about 40 fewer cars on the road.
