The Auckland Writers Festival is hosting one of the biggest literary stars in the world.
Norway's Karl Ove Knausgaard will come to Auckland to speak about his six novels in an autobiographical series called My Struggle.
The festival begins on May 1 with Jeff Kinney, the author of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, presenting a talk that will be of interest to children and parents.
The books have sold more than 150 million copies world-wide and have been turned into several feature films to its name.
An African Nobel Prize contender Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o, a human rights champion as well as a writer, will talk about his books that have been translated into over 30 languages.
Kiwi Grammy-winner Lorde will interview Durga Chew-Bose, whose debut collection of self-referential essays Too Much and Not the Mood was labelled by Vulture as one of the most exciting debuts of 2017, on May 19.
The event closes on May 20 with an hour-long talk with New Zealand writer Witi Ihimaera.
The festival brings 230 writers to Auckland to talk about literature, poetry, music, comedy and theatre.
